Function

   The 554 foot 249 Oil Spill Response Barge has been designed to handle the need to respond to a possible spill of fuel oil.  In order for an effective response to be mounted against the product spilled, necessary equipment must be brought to the spill site as quickly as possible.  With the design of the barge, SEAPRO is capable of arriving to the scene of a spill with 2000’ of 36” boom, a storage capacity of 249 barrel, and the capability of recovering fuel with a LORI brush skimming system. Additionally the barge is capable of carrying a 19' Rozema small boat. 

 

    The barge is capable of skimming in protected waters with seas of 3' or less and can transit in conditions of up to 6' seas.  The response barge can perform skimming and recovery operations offshore, near shore, and as well as support shoreline clean up operations.
